Vahe Grigoryan says in case of being elected he will not be representative of authorities in CC
My Step faction of the National Assembly met today with the Constitutional Court judge candidate Vahe Grigoryan.
After the closed meeting the candidate answered the questions of reporters. Asked whether his nomination was a result of political decision, Grigoryan gave positive response.
“Of course, it was a result of political decision,” Grigoryan said.
Asked whether his nomination for the second time was not violation of the law, Grigoryan said there is no violation and added that it is implementation of constitutional authorities and the legislative power cannot interfere into it.
In response to the claims about good relations with the ruling force, Grigoryan said that he has no problems and in case of being elected in the post he will give an oath. He stressed that being in good relations with the ruling force does not mean that he will be their representative in the CC.
As to whether in his opinion he will be elected judge of the CC, Grigoryan said he hopes he will.
As to whether his political views will not impede his activity as CC judge if to consider that CC is apolitical body, Grigoryan said, “There is no person in Armenia who does not have political views. Not having them is more grave accusation than having. Another issue is how they influence on the implementation of justice by the judge. I do have political views,” he said.
Grigoryan stressed that Constitutional Court is non-party political body but to say that it is apolitical body is wrong as the most political decisions are being made by it.
“I will never justify that I was under pressure. At the moment I am under pressure, I will no longer be a judge,” he said.
Yesterday Grigoryan met with the members of the Bright Armenia faction.
