Robert Kocharyan’s France-based lawyer urges judge’s recusal, says he has too low rating to examine the case
Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan’s France-based lawyer Sevak Torosyan submitted petition for recusal of judge.
“You cannot examine this case, you simply cannot do it. I conducted certain studies of the sphere of justice in Armenia after the revolution and formed an interesting opinion over it. Today’s matter does not relate to Robert Kocharyan only, but the principle of justice, presumption of innocence and this is the reason why I have cut so many kilometers and arrived here,” the lawyer stated.
Torosyan also noted that judge Armen Danielyan has rather low rating and urged him to agree to recusal.
“The examination of the case must be entrusted to the judge with higher rating,” he said, adding that his recusal will make both sides calm down.
Earlier today the judge stated about denying the petition on his recusal. During the hearing the prosecutors and representative of March 1 victim successor filed a petition for judge’s recusal.
