Why Russian ambassador not called to MFA to give clarifications over meeting with Robert Kocharyan: Bright Armenia lawmaker asks MFA official
Lawmaker from Bright Armenia faction Arman Babajanyan asked deputy foreign affairs minister Grigor Hovhannisyan at the session of the Foreign Relations Standing Committee whether the MFA has been notified about the details of the conversation between Russian ambassador to Armenia and Armenia’s ex-president Robert Kocharyan.
“Why till know the Russian ambassador has not been called to the MFA to give clarifications about the meeting with Robert Kocharyan,” Babajanyan asked.
In response, Hovhannisyan said that the diplomat has not done anything wrong from diplomatic point of view.
“The ambassador has not done anything wrong in the sidelines of diplomatic protocol, it cannot be condemned or be a subject of special discussion by our establishment,” the deputy minister said.
Head of the Committee Ruben Rubinyan said that this meeting is strange for him and he does not welcome it.
Earlier Aysor.am reported that Russian ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin met with Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan in latter’s office.
After it, Russian embassy came up with clarification, saying that the meeting with Kocharyan is in the sidelines of the ambassador’s meetings with the representatives of the country’s public, political and business circles.
