Russian ambassador summoned to MFA after meeting with Armenia’s ex-president
Russia’s ambassador to Armenia has been summoned to Armenia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“After the session of the NA’s Foreign Relations Standing Committee during which the meeting of Russian ambassador and Robert Kocharyan was discussed, I have talked with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan,” chairman of the NA’s committee Ruben Rubinyan wrote on Facebook.
“The minister said that Russian ambassador has been invited to the MFA on that occasion and a conversation took place about not interfering into the domestic affairs of the country. Deputy minister Grigor Hovhannisyan did not tell it at the discussion in the Committee as he did not have permission to publicize the information as of that moment,” Rubinyan wrote.
Asked for a comment, MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan told Aysor.am, "I confirm that Russia's ambassador to Armenia was summoned to Armenia's MFA last week. There is nothing more to say."
Earlier Aysor.am reported that Russian ambassador Sergey Kopirkin met with Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan.
Later Russian embassy issued clarification, saying that the meeting took place in the sidelines of ambassador’s meetings with representatives of public, political and business circles.
