The USA and Iran clearly understand what war will mean for each of them: expert

The United States are not likely to strike Iranian nuclear objects, expert in Iranian affairs Aharon Vardanyan told Aysor.am, referring to the publication of The Jerusalem Post that the USA is planning to strike one of the Iranian nuclear objects.

Vardanyan said just local clashes may be registered in the Persian Gulf.

He said the publication is more of propaganda nature if to take into consideration that The Jerusalem Post has never made objective analyses over Iranian topics.

The expert also expressed conviction that such tough rhetoric ahead of negotiations is just for picking concessions.

“Stemming from the statements of both the U.S. and Iranian sides it becomes obvious that the two countries do not want war. Each of them clearly understands what the war will mean for each of them,” he said, adding that if nevertheless war breaks between them it will result not only in regional but global instability.

In case of possible war the expert did not exclude the involvement of other international players as well like for instance China, Russia who have big interests in Iran and the Middle East.

“Iran has a restrictive role in the Middle East and implements balancing functions. If the USA strikes Iranian nuclear object, it may follow a strike by Iran to one of the U.S. partner states in the Middle East like Israel and Saudi Arabia,” the expert said.
