Robert Kocharyan’s lawyer submits another petition for judge’s recusal

Member of Robert Kocharyan’s defense team Hovhannes Khudoyan submitted at the court hearing today another petition for judge Armen Danielyan’s recusal. He said the petition is based on judge’s behavior at June 18 session.

The judge behaved aggressively, did not allow lawyer Hayk Alumyan voice objection after he found some phrases in his address offensive.

“Some actions of the judge at yesterday’s session give basis for declaring recusal,” the lawyer said, submitting the petition.

He noted that the judge incessantly and without any reasons interrupted the defenders, did not allow them voice objections.

Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan is present at today’s court hearing and objected the petition.

“The submitted petition is a short description of yesterday’s court hearing. The whole two-hour long hearing served to clarifications of rights and it became obvious that the court made conclusions over the further process,” he said, adding that the petition is ungrounded and is viewed as an attempt to artificially protract the case.

The successors of March 1 victims also objected the petition.

Judge Danielyan left for consultation room, he will publish the decision regarding the petition today at 12 p.m.
