Armenia’s NA adopts agreement on cooperation with the CSTO submitted by NSS chief

Armenian National Assembly approved today agreement on cooperation with the CSTO member states in the sphere of information security. It was presented at the parliament by the chief of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan.

The agreement was backed by 97 lawmakers.

Presenting the agreement yesterday, Vanetsyan said that He said the main goal of the agreement is the further development of information security of the CSTO member states, improvement of threat confrontation mechanisms in the information sector, mutual assistance, cooperation, exchange of experience, preparation of staff.

In response to lawmakers’ questions, Vanetsyan said the system will operate between the CSTO member states. The information will be transferred per necessity.

“There are special state structures which will decide whether it is purposeful to transfer the information to a second or third country or not. The same logic will work between the CSTO member states,” Vanetsyan said, adding that the agreement has conditions, criteria which the state will take into consideration.

“It is excluded to have information flow that will harm Armenia’s security. It is a closed system that relates only to the CSTO. No information relating to the domestic issues of our country will be transferred,” Vanetsyan said, stressing that agreement is just aimed at facilitating work inside the CSTO.
