Robert Kocharyan must be taken into custody immediately: prosecutor

Prosecutor Petros Petrosyan who petitioned the change of preventive measure of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan stated that the court’s verdict is to be immediately implemented. According to the law, the decision enters into force from the moment of its publication, thus Kocharyan is to be immediately arrested..

“The decision enters into force from the moment of its publication and must be implemented immediately,” the prosecutor said.

Earlier today judge of the Criminal Court of Appeal read the judicial act about changing the preventive measure of Kocharyan from release under guarantees to taking into custody.

The court also annulled the decision of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction on suspending the March 1 criminal case proceeding and addressing it to Constitutional Court.
