Government approves bill on raising minimal salaries
Armenia’s government approved at its session today the bill on making amendments in the minimal monthly salary.
Deputy labor and social affairs deputy minister Gemafin Gasparyan introduced the bill submitted by My Step lawmakers Varazdat Karapetyan and Babken Tunyan which proposes making minimal salary 63,000 AMD instead of current 55,000 AMD. The government in its turn proposes to make it 68,000 AMD.
The deputy minister briefed on the grounds of calculations where the minimal consumption basket has been taken into consideration.
“We will directly change salaries of 45,000 employees of private sector and 35,000 employees of state sector who receive minimal salaries,” he said, adding that it will mean 23-25% growth of salaries.
The bill will be presented for NA’s discussion.
