Constitutional Court works and to continue work normally: CC issues a statement
Judges of Armenia’s Constitutional Court have released a statement regarding the recent events and discussions over the CC.
In the statement the judges stress that the majority of the opinions voiced recently over the Constitutional Court are of political nature and are not being commented due to the CC’s commitment to display political restriction and neutrality.
As to legal aspects, the judges stressed that the private opinions and peculiar interpretations of the Constitution cannot create any consequences for the Constitutional Court.
The statement also says that it is CC’s exclusive authority to give final interpretation of the constitutional norms which may be done only in the sidelines of a concrete case.
The statement says that the legal inquiries about the Constitution and CC may become subject of investigation by the CC, thus the judges refrain from expressing public opinion about it.
“The Constitutional Court works and will work normally, being subjected exclusively to the Constitution and ensuring the rule of the Constitution,” the statement concludes.
The statement has been signed by president of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan and seven judges.
