Manvel Grigoryan kept in custody on purpose: lawyer

Manvel Grigoryan’s health is worsening recently, his lawyer Levon Baghdasaryan said at a news conference on Friday.

“The arrest is inadmissible. We have voiced the issue at different inter-state instances but reached no result. We have applied to the European Court of Human Rights and received corresponding decision. But during this period Manvel Grigoryan’s health condition not only registered negative dynamics but reached a phase when Manvel Grigoryan cannot walk,” the lawyer said.

Levon Baghdasaryan stressed that his defendant has become a disabled person and this is a clear example of torture.

“My opinion is that the person is being kept under arrest with a clear understanding that his life is in danger. If no changes are registered after applying to corresponding inter-state bodies, I will apply to the ECHR for immediate measures,” the lawyer said.
