Security Council secretary obviously not in his place: political analyst

On the background of developments taking place in the region it is extremely important to create a state body which will have developed strategy – a plan of actions in case of the possible USA-Iran conflict, political analyst, expert in international relations Suren Sargsyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.

“The developments taking place in the region may become explosive at any moment. It means that Armenia must be ready for any developments. In essence, we are dealing with a situation when Armenia is not ready for the most dangerous and the most possible. Even if the possibility of this scenario is one percent, even for this one percent Armenia must have strategy to learn how to confront the challenges,” the political analyst said.

Suren Sargsyan said that having clearly worked out strategy is the issue of ensuring Armenia’s national security and intensive steps must be undertaken in that direction.

“On one hand we have our friend United States and on the other our friend and neighbor Iran. If you have noticed the sanctions against Iran in this or that way harms the Armenian economy, so we must always be ready to possible scenarios and have plan of strategic actions plan which the Republic of Armenia does not have,” our interlocutor said.

Asked where Armenia has failed and does not have the strategy till now, Suren Sargsyan said it is an issue of staff.

“The authorities are to give corresponding instructions to the Security Council, obviously the Security Council secretary is obviously not in his place. I think he should have been a professional soldier and had clear idea about military, tactical actions and not be interested in exclusively space only. There are people in the government responsible for the concrete directions and they must assume the whole responsibility,” the political analyst said.
