Special group to be set up to work on constitutional amendments: justice minister
Armenia’s Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan wrote on Facebook that the government not only clearly knows what it wants, but has strategic documents, like Anti-corruption strategy and action plan which are already in the stage of discussion.
The response came after a question was voiced during his Facebook press conference that “according to the opposition, the vetting imagined by the government will not be done.”
“We not only clearly know what we want, but we have strategic documents, like for instance Anti-corruption strategy and action plan which are already in the stage of public discussions. This strategy has been positively accepted and assessed by the international institutions and civil society. Some elements of the transitional justice will be referred to at the Judicial-legal strategy document which will be published soon,” he wrote, adding that they are planning to set up a special group in February 2020 for working on constitutional amendments.
“As to the vetting of judges and other officials, the package of amendments to the constitutional law about Judicial legislation is already ready after some inner corrections will be put for public discussions during this month,” the minister wrote.
