No grounds for starting criminal persecution against Lydian Armenia: expert conclusion made public
The examination of the situation over Lydian Armenia company has revealed that no information has been purposefully hidden about pollution of environment by Lydian Armenia company, there are no grounds for instituting criminal case, head of department at Armenia’s Investigative Committee Yura Ivanyan told the reporters today referring to the expert conclusion over Amulsar.
“After receiving the conclusion and analyzing the acquired facts the body examining the case found that there are no grounds for criminal persecution,” he stressed.
Referring to the conclusion Ivanyan said that there are no lines between the territory of the program and Jermuk thermal springs via which the underground waters and pollution may transfer to them. According to the conclusion, in case of earthquake as well these waters will not reach Jermuk. No harm will be caused to Kechut water reservoir and Sevan.
The conclusion said the impact on Vorotan, Arpa and Darb rivers is not certain.
“At the same time the expert group has assessed the smoothing measures presented by Lydian as rational but at the same time offered additional events and came to conclusion that if the envisaged measures be implemented in a proper way the environmental risks will be controllable,” he said.
Ivanyan stressed that 16 points have been noted in the conclusion in case of preservation of which the environmental risks will be controllable.
“Lydian has already envisaged the majority of these points in its planning documents and expressed readiness to implement the others as well announcing about flexible policy,” he added.
