New authorities wasted 1,5 year and $400,000 to find out that there are no issues regarding Amulsar exploitation: expert
No in-depth studies have been made regarding Amulsar with just the results of former studies being examined, PhD in biological studies, head of YSU Ecology and Nature Protection chair laboratory Vahagn Varagyan told Aysor.am, referring to the results of the expert conclusion on Amulsar.
“It took from the new authorities over a year time to just study the documents and give conclusion that everything is fine. If everything was fine why was this issue so much referred to?” Varagyan asked.
He stressed that no fundamental studies have been made regarding the possible pollution of Sevan and Jermuk waters as a result of mine exploitation.
“We may register that what was said till now was senseless, it means that there was no issue in Amuslar and today the current authorities and the government state that in reality there were no problems. They just made populist statements about Amulsar and wasted a year and a half and 400,000 USD to understand that there is no issue there,” he stressed, adding that the disputable issues must be additionally studied and new final answers be given which was not done.
