Suspension of Amulsar mine exploitation bad impulse for potential investors: Babken Tunyan
My Step faction lawmaker, head of the Economic Affairs Standing Committee Babken Tunyan claims that if there are no enough grounds for suspending the exploitation of the mine it should be exploited.
He said that the expert conclusion proposed 16 steps to Lydian in case of implementation of which the risks will be controllable.
“If we suspend the activity of Amulsar in such conditions, with the same logic we must close all the mines exploited in Armenia. But are we ready to stop mining industry in Armenia?” he asked.
As to whether the consequences of not exploitation of the mine are worse then the consequences of exploitation, Tunyan said, “Bad, the consequences are already bad. It is a very bad impulse to potential investors. As it is a clear example what can happen with an investment.”
Tunyan stressed that it does not matter for the investors whether the leader of country is Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan and Nikol Pashinyan.
“For them it is state of Armenia which has allowed exploitation of mine, investments reaching few million USD were made and now a decision is made to close the mine. It means that during each investment a decision may be made and investments be lost,” Tunyan said.
