Situation created over Amulsar needs political assessment: Citizen’s Decision party

Citizen’s Decision party has come up with a statement regarding Amulsar issue, stating that the situation created over the issue needs political assessment.

The party says that after getting familiarized with the results of the expert conclusion they got convinced that the dangers of the exploitation of the mine are grounded and the claims as if the existing risks are possible to control are not trustworthy.

In the statement the party also referred to the situation on August 19 when police used violence against the participants of the protest action against exploitation of Amulsar.

The party stated that the issue should be viewed in several respects with the first one being sovereignty.

“Our state cannot allow a situation when a decision is being made as a result of pressures from outside. The next one is democracy. Our goal is to pass from authoritarian, centralized governance to straight democracy when made decisions stem from the interests of the people directly influenced by them,” the statement reads.

As to economy, the party says that there is no concept of economic development of the country, the statements of the government contradict each other, the declared economic revolution is deprived of mental back.

“The government is speaking about the reduction of the role of mine industry but gives card-blanche to the most disputable mine-industrial program in Armenia’s history. Thus we state that we are against the exploitation of the mine. Amulsar will remain a mount,” the statement said.

The party urged all the parties, public, political figures, NGOs publicly express their position.
