Artsakh’s processed pomegranate produce to be exported to world market: Artsakh agriculture minister
The approval of the new concept of development of agriculture of Artsakh Republic was a breakthrough, minister of agriculture of Artsakh Zhirayr Mirzoyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
He said the concept registers all the priorities and main circle of programs for the upcoming ten years.
Mirzoyan stressed that agriculture in Artsakh does not need state’s assistance but regulation.
“My opinion is that the success of the sector mainly depends on the order and regulation,” the minister stressed.
Mirzoyan noted that the development is agreed with the introduction of contemporary technology.
He stressed that the sector faces many issues agreed with climate conditions.
“The past year was known for serious natural disasters. We have wrapped up the 2018 having over 15,000 ha hail-stricken territory. This year we have about 4,5 thousand ha such territory,” Mirzoyan said.
He added that over thousand hectares of territory has been damaged as a result of fire.
The minister said the issue of milk purchase is on the agenda.
“According to approximate calculations, about hundred tons of milk is being produced in Artsakh daily but only 10% is consumed,” he said.
Mirzoyan said after new food supply system applied in Defense Army the ministry has certain arrangements with corresponding bodies to purchase the necessary food from Artsakh.
“We are working in that direction hoping to solve the issue at least partially,” he said.
Speaking about pomegranate harvest, Mirzoyan said they are planning to export the processed pomegranate produce to world market.
