Judge leaves for consultation room: decision on Kocharyan’s release for bail to be published on Friday
Judge Anna Danibekyan left for consultation room after the examination of the petition filed by ex-president Robert Kocharyan’s defense team for changing the preventive measure from arrest into release on bail.
The decision will be published on September 20.
This is the second petition of the defense team following the one declined today by the judge. With the first petition Kocharyan's lawyers requested release of their defendant from custody.
Addressing the court today, ex-president Robert Kocharyan said, “I am not such a person to flee from something. For many and the prosecutors, in particular, it is difficult to imagine it all. If I was the fleeing type, Azerbaijanis would have been drinking tea in Stepanakert long ago,” Kocharyan stated, adding that it is even offensive for him to speak about it.
