Ex-chief of Armenia’s police Vladimir Gasparyan charged
Former chief of Armenia’s police Vladimir Gasparyan has been charged with abuse of power, Armenia’s Investigative Committee reports.
Signature bond on not leaving the country has been applied as preventive measure.
According to the charges, Gasparyan, being a commander and a high-ranking official from June 1997 to October 2010 in Defense Ministry allowed three servicemen in 2001, 2004 and 2009 while being military police officers implement another work not relating to their post and receive salary.
One of them worked as driver of third president’s brother Lyova Sargsyan and the other two ensured security of the other brother Alexander Sargsyan.
Besides, being deputy defense minister, on December 3, 2010 Gasparyan prolonged the service term of one of the mentioned serviceman with five year term.
As a result, the servicemen who did not implement their duties and did not attend the military unit were not fired and were paid salaries from the state budget totaling over 21 million AMD causing big harm to the state.
On the basis of acquired proofs Gasparyan has been charged under the 2d part of Article 375 of the Criminal Code.
