U.S. Security Council is weighty body unlike Armenian’s same establishment and its secretary: political analyst
In the United States the security affairs advisor is an extremely important and serious office as it coordinates the works of the U.S. Security Council as well with the latter being a weighty body unlike Armenia’s Security Council and its secretary, political analyst Suren Sargsyan told Aysor.am, referring to the congratulatory message of Armenia’s SC secretary Armen Grigoryan to Robert O’Brien.
The political analyst said Armenia is not in the list of U.S. priorities and the expectation of such meeting is unlikely.
“If the United States defines its top hundred priorities, Armenia would hardly appear in them. Why? Because Armenia is N107 U.S. trade partner among the 192 countries. This is the first important signal for Trump who has business way of thinking. The U.S. administration is known for its pragmatism, which hints that today the United States has more important priorities in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Middle East,” Suren Sargsyan said.
The expert said that combining all these realities it becomes clear that high-level meetings between the two countries should not be expected.
As to the appointment of Robert O’Brien in the post of security affairs advisor, Sargsyan described it as a message to the whole world.
“I hope Armenia too understands this message. This message is that quite aggressive and tough-positioned Bolton has been replaced with a new figure, known for his negotiating talent. It means Trump prioritizes negotiations, including with enemy states. It is very important for Trump as he is getting prepared for the upcoming elections and does everything to win in them,” the political analyst stated.
