My statement’s addressee was not Lydian Armenia, I have nothing to prove: Lawmaker Sergey Bagratyan
Lydian Armenia company filed a lawsuit against Prosperous Armenia faction lawmaker Sergey Bagratyan, claiming that his statement harmed company’s business credit, honor and dignity.
Speaking to Aysor.am, Bagratyan said in response they will present their approaches to the court and to the public.
“The statements I made at the meeting with the residents of Jermuk related to the corruption risks in the mine industry sector in general. The organization which suspects itself in corruption risks has an opportunity and right to file a lawsuit. If you view the text of my statement voiced at the meeting, I am responding to a question which reads as follows: Why do the licenses in the mine industry being provided to the organizations which harm? I am verbally responding that corruption cases were registered during the ruling of the former authorities, meaning the statement of businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan. I am not naming Lydian Armenia at all. Naturally, I do not have any big respect toward Lydian Armenia to address them in plural form. I have said ‘they’ meaning the companies in general. They have no grounded proofs that it relates to them. If they ascribe this statement to them, it is their right. They must prove that they are not in such risks. I have nothing to prove, I have not addressed them,” Bagratyan stressed.
The lawmaker said he has not yet received the second lawsuit filed by the company against him.
The company claims that the statement voiced by the lawmaker as if Lydian Armenia did not make the 400 million USD investments is lie.
The lawmaker said that Lydian invested 20 times less but presented that sum to the government and is blackmailing it.
The company described it labeling and discrediting statements.
