Attempt made to neutralize CC as barrier, impediment on the way of making political decisions: Hrayr Tovmasyan
Chairman of Armenia’s Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan refrains from giving any assessment to the developments taking place in the National Assembly, he told about it in an interview with Armnews TV channel.
He stressed that in future it will be viewed as pressure on the CC by him.
“Taking into consideration the circumstance that we are in real process and the CC is yet to refer to all these issues, I would not like to give legal assessments to all these “accusations” as I am convinced that in future it will be viewed as pressure on the CC by me. Thus, I will refrain from voicing any assessment to all the developments which are taking place in the National Assembly,” Tovmasyan said, referring to the bill circulated by the ruling My Step faction aimed at termination his authorities as CC chairman.
Tovmasyan noted that jurisdiction does not like pathetic, thrilling speeches.
“No matter how pathetic and thrilling the speeches voiced in the NA are, they are not enough for making legal conclusions. I would really prefer to hear clear observations, characteristics, facts, examples in what case I violated the integrity and in what case I allowed disciplinary offence,” he noted.
Tovmasyan described the process against him as political.
“I think this is a political process and is aimed at neutralizing the Constitutional Court as a barrier, impediment on the way of making political decisions, as at a certain moment the CC may say “stop” as these decisions contradict the legislation,” he said.
