NA is not the body to decide whether Hrayr Tovmasyan should stay or leave: Gagik Tsarukyan

Prosperous Armenia faction head Gagik Tsarukyan said chairman of the Constitutional Court Hrayr Tovmasyan does not correspond to his post.

He reminded that during the previous parliament the Prosperous Armenia faction voted against his candidacy.

The response came following reporter’s question on whether the faction will back the bill on terminating the authorities of the CC chairman or not.

“He does not correspond to his post. Watching main provisions, documents we see violations of terms. Besides, I want to say that it is not for the National Assembly to decide whether Hrayr Tovmasyan must stay or leave. The decision is to be made by the Constitutional Court. This is why we have decided not to participate in the voting,” Tsarukyan stressed.

Asked whether he sees elements of political persecution against Hrayr Tovmasyan, Tsarukyan stressed that he does not see political persecution against anyone.
