Political process over Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement faltered: Russia’s FM
The political process over the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has been faltered with no progress having been registered in that direction, foreign minister of Russia Segey Lavrov stated at the discussion in Valday club.
“As to the Nagorno Karabakh issue, the situation on the line of contact is quite calm with few incidents having been registered. The sides exchanged bodies of killed, currently the process of exchange of captives is being prepared,” Lavrov said, adding that nevertheless some process is taking place.
He said OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs are closely cooperating.
“The situation is calmer than a year ago but the political process has been faltered, and the attempts to reach any progress fail,” Lavrov stressed.
He said the sides are making serious statements which do not contribute to the creation of atmosphere for political process.
“There are contacts but the dialogue over the conflict settlement has not been resumed yet. I do not see any obvious danger here and possibility of resumption of any major actions. Russia will do the utmost to prevent it,” Lavrov stressed.
