Armenian Armed Forces test new anti-air and anti-tank weapons
During wide-scale military drills in the Armenian Armed Forces new weapons were tested, head of Chief Staff of Armenia’s Armed Forces Artak Davtyan told the reporters on Tuesday.
“Not mentioning their exact names I will just say that they relate to anti-air and anti-tank defense,” Davtyan said.
“In particular we have raised the opportunities of anti-air defense, regarding the distance, height of reach. Some types of weapons were upgraded and the downing of the UAV by the Defense Army is proof of it,” he said, adding that currently the Armenian armed forces manage to hit UAV’s with very small surface which he said is the result of the upgrading.
Referring to the anti-tank weapons, Davtyan said the distance has been raised for about twice and works were carried out to ensure better safety and viability of the people there.
Davtyan also voiced happiness over long-range Smerches’ harmonized application by the defense army during the drills.
“As to acquisition of new measures, we are doing it as well, we are mainly trying to acquire weaponry which demands effective usage with smaller staff,” he said.
