Turkey’s president initiates military actions on border with Syria to divert people’s attention from domestic political problems: expert
After the decline of own rating and promises given to voters president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan cannot step backward in Syria’s issue, expert in Turkish sciences Hakob Chakryan told Aysor.am, referring to the centralization of military equipment by Turkey on the border with Syria.
Chakryan said more probably in near future military actions will start on Turkish-Syrian border.
“The domestic political developments in Turkey are not in favor of Erdogan, there is excitement in the country. Just in three months the prices for gas and electricity grew by 15%. Now Erdogan will try to change the agenda, prevent decline of his rating and divert people’s attention from key issues,” the expert said, adding that Erdogan stated about it yet in 2016 and is waiting for convenient moment to bring his idea into life.
U.S. President Donald Trump warned Turkey against its initiative and inadmissibility to hit U.S. servicemen or Washington’s allies during the military actions in Syria’s north-east. Trump also threatened to “destroy Turkey’s economy” if Ankara “passes permissible limits.”
In its turn, Turkey’s vice president stated that Turkey is not a country "to act under threats and will define its own route."
