For us there is no return to the past: Artsakh President stresses importance of ensuring Artsakh’s full security

Erection of independent, sovereign and powerful state was and is the basis of our statehood, president of Artsakh Bako Sahakyan stated at the Artsakh Friends’ conference in Stepanakert.

“Ensuring full security of Artsakh is a must. Even the smallest sign of weakening will attract the enemy for new aggressions which is full of unpredictable consequences. This is why the security issues are prior in the negotiations as well,” Artsakh president stated.

“I want to reaffirm again that we are for peaceful settlement of the relations with Azerbaijan over the table of negotiations,” he said, adding that without full restoration of the negotiation format the serious progress in the process will not be registered.

“It is clear that Artsakh’s fate cannot be determined without its participation and for us there can be no return to the past regarding the status and borders,” Artsakh president stated.

At the same time Bako Sahakyan noted that preservation of equally good-neighborly relations with Europe, the USA and Russia as well as with regional states is a must.

Bako Sahakyan also stressed the importance of Armenia-Artsakh-Diaspora close cooperation.
