Solidarity discourse important guarantee for ensuring our security: Artsakh president’s security advisor

Aysor.am conducted interview with Artsakh president’s advisor on security affairsTigran Abrahamyan over the developments in Artsakh and over it.

- Mr Abrahamyan, let’s start from the situation on the frontline. What is the situation there?

- Let me refer to the topic from other viewpoint: defense minister of Azerbaijan announced few days ago and at the same time instructed the commandership of the armed forces sharply respond to the fostering-engineering works in Artsakh. This instruction “smells with provocation,” and I do not think that the Azerbaijani actions are agree with the engineering works only. In essence, this is a direct instruction to intensify actions on the borderline.

- May it result in drastical change of the situation?

- It is yet early to voice complete assessments and there is no need to make early judgments, but it is necessary to prevent all the actions aimed at changing the situation in the early phase.

- Do you see any resource to prevent such developments in diplomatic way?

- I will say so – this resource is not fully exhausted but first of all it is necessary to look for preventive factors.

- In what phase is the negotiation process? Where have we reached? Where do we go?

- A week ago the foreign minister of Russia one of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries openly stated that the negotiations are frozen. This statement has direct relation to the approaches I have voiced about the line of contact. In such situation it is difficult to say in what direction we are moving. We are still standing. Azerbaijan more likely does not want us to move forward and pushes forward its blackmailing policy which as well does not work.

- What may prevent the region from new blows?

- A number of direct and indirect factors influence on the regional security environment. Among them is the situation in the regional countries, battle-worthiness of our armed forces, and I will also add the factor of ensuring public solidarity discourse. It is an extremely important circumstance which not only has an important influence on our efficiency, viability but on ensuring security in general, it is an irreplaceable factor for development as well.

The public polarization, formation of gaps between different groups artificially create another agenda making us shift from prior issues into secondary ones.

- Can we overcome these issues?

- There is no other way. We must do it as soon as possible.
