Time comes to bring Armenian-Georgian relations to new strategic level: expert
The visit of the newly appointed Georgian Prime Minister to Yerevan was a good occasion to raise the level of bilateral relations on a new level, but unfortunately the parties just released statements attaching significance to the bilateral relations, Hayatsk think tank expert Hermine Mkhitaryan told Aysor.am, referring to the visit of the Georgian top official.
“This was the first visit of Giorgi Gakharia to Yerevan as prime minister of Georgia and naturally, it was first of all familiarizing visit,” she said, stressing that besides exchanging opinions over the existing agenda the visit was a good occasion to refresh it and come up with an initiative of raising bilateral relations on a new level and the familiarizing nature of the visit was not an impediment for doing it.
“Moreover, the time has come to pass from words to actions in Armenian-Georgian relations. Unfortunately, like during the previous visits this time as well we were satisfied with the statements emphasizing the importance of the bilateral relations,” the expert said, adding that all the conditions exist for using the potential of development of Armenian-Georgian relations.
“Today we have an opportunity to bring the Armenian-Georgian relations on new strategic level. We must not be satisfied with reaching arrangements over the existing agenda, irrespective of the statement of prime minister Pashinyan voiced at the joint news conference that the Armenian-Georgian agenda is so full that it is difficult to manage to discuss all the issues existing on it during one meeting,” the expert said.
