Criminal case against Hrayr Tovmasyan to be terminated due to weak grounds but the trace will remain on Armenia: Bright Armenia lawmaker

The grounds for initiating criminal proceedings against Hrayr Tovmasyan are very weak and most probably the case will be dropped, lawmaker from Bright Armenia faction Taron Simonyan told Aysor.am, referring to the criminal case instituted on the basis of lawmaker Arman Babajanyan’s application.

“The case will be terminated but it will leave its trace on Armenia and there will be an issue to give explanations both in the international platforms and the Council of Europe. They will more probably find traces of political persecution. This is why I do not understand the reasons of doing all this. If they do not reach any result what they want to say with this. In any case a criminal case has been initiated but I suppose it will be terminated as I do not see any grounds for continuing the criminal persecution,” the lawmaker said.
