Hrayr Tovmasyan is being political persecuted: attorney
If to view in a wide pre-context what has been said in the address of Constitutional Court chairman Hrayr Tovmasyan during the recent months and what actions have been undertaken, an impression is being created about the existence of political agenda of getting rid of him, international right expert, attorney Ara Ghazaryan told Aysor.am, adding that it does not fit in the criminal persecution circumstance.
“Of course the political persecution is not seen in the criminal materials. It is a political agenda and the question is that the authorities do not deny it. We must just wait and see the developments in the criminal case,” he said, adding that such cases have never been registered in Armenia.
He said he does not recollect any case when assuming the post is viewed as usurpation of power.
“I would also like to remind that a person cannot be charged and convicted on the basis of suppositions. There must be proofs, facts. Everything is very unclear,” Ghazaryan said.
Lawmaker Arman Babajanyan claims that Hrayr Tovmasyan has assumed the post of the CC chairman illegally. He also said that he has reported about the crime – usurpation of power – addressing corresponding application to the attorney general’s office.
Earlier today Special Investigation Service reported about initiating criminal proceedings upon Babajanyan’s application.
