Arsen Babayan’s political persecution to be once again confirmed if former head of CC staff Arushan Hakobyan’s testimony is not attached to the case: expert
According to the press release of the Special Investigation Service issued on October 22, the resignation application of the former CC chairman Gagik Harutyunyan was submitted to the NA deputy head of staff Arsen Babayan on March 5, 2018 while NA chairman Ara Babloyan illegally signed it and stated about resignation of CC chairman Gagik Harutyunyan on March 2, expert of Constitution Gohar Meloyan wrote on Facebook.
“Thus, according to the Special Investigation Service Ara Babloyan objectively could not do so. The mentioned information is denied by the former head of staff of the Constitutional Court Arushan Hakobyan in an interview with Hraparak daily,” Meloyan stated.
In the interview Hakobyan stated about being interrogated over the case, saying that he has told that he sent the application early in the morning of March 2 via an employee and it was submitted to the NA on March 2, 2018 like it is fixed in the NA documents.
“A question raises on the basis of what testimonies the SIS decided that Harutyunyan’s resignation application was submitted to the NA on March 5, three days later and not on March 2 like it is claimed by Arushan Hakobyan and like it is fixed in the NA documents,” Meloyan stressed.
“In such conditions I urge the lawyers of Arsen Babayan to publish whether the testimony of Arushan Hakobyan is included in the case, as in case of its absence the impartiality of the “criminal-legal process” and the political persecution of Arsen Babayan will once again be confirmed. On February 28, 2018 Gagik Harutyunyan was elected member of the Supreme Judicial Council, thus logically he submitted resignation application on the next day,” she said.
