Former ombudsman sees group interest in Arsen Babayan’s arrest
Former ombudsman of Armenia Larisa Alaverdyan said she is convinced in the existence of group interest in the decision to arrest former deputy head of NA staff Arsen Babayan.
“Arsen Babayan’s personality does not fit to any criteria of a person to be arrested,” Alaverdyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
She said many attorneys, experts, political analysts claim that Arsen Babayan’s case is political.
“I must clarify that it is not a political case, these are steps stemming from group interests,” she said, adding that this is a process stemming from narrow group interests.
As to the court’s decision to arrest Arsen Babayan, Larisa Alaverdyan said that such episodes repeat the ones registered during the ruling of the previous authorities.
“I will remind a disputable name – Vahe Grigoryan – there was time he was summoned and arrested in the same way. I bring his example on purpose to make it clear that there is no difference who and by who. This style must be condemned,” she said.
