Armenia takes note of the observation of Venice Commission, ready to disperse concerns: Armenia’s justice minister
Armenia’s Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan hails the statement of the president of the Venice Commission Gianni Buquicchio.
“We have taken a note of his observations. I too consider that the crisis must finally get its solution,” the minister told the reporters.
He said he always sees the necessity of mutual respect.
“The situation created over Constitutional Court is not the issue of mutual respect but the result of election of the CC president in suspicious circumstances. This issue has not been created now but during his election to the post,” Badasyan said.
The minister said the final solution of the crisis in the Constitutional Court will be reached after necessary reforms.
Asked whether Hrayr Tovmasyan’s resignation will solve the crisis, the minister said he finds it difficult to answer the question.
“I think after introducing the early retirement system we will see how many judges will express wish to resign in the sidelines of the offered scheme. I attach great significance to the refreshment of CC staff,” the minister said.
As to who Buquicchio’s statement has been addressed to, the minister said to all the constitutional bodies.
Speaking about the pressures the president of the Venice Commission mentioned in the statement, the minister said in case of existence of such concerns or suspicions, they are ready to disperse them.
The minister reiterated that pressure is not being exerted against anyone.
