Isolating Arsen Babayan ruling power silenced a valuable critic of its activities: Ruben Melikyan
If short “political prisoner” means “unlawfully deprived of freedom” plus “political motivation,” president of Legal Line NGO Ruben Melikyan wrote on Facebook, adding that for already two weeks Arsen Babayan is unlawfully kept in jail.
“It has been many times spoken why, but the political motivations were not unveiled much. More right to say, it was spoken about the attempt to “invade” the Constitutional Court and have the CC president resigned in the political motivation of the ruling force,” Melikyan wrote.
“From January since ending the public service and till being unlawfully deprived of freedom, Arsen was not just spreading criticism, but high-quality criticism. His speech was being spread and very often resulted in certain consequences. Thus, by illegally isolating Arsen the ruling force silenced its serious critic which in its turn is a serious “political motivation.”
Melikyan added that the ruling force has good opportunity to a bit smoothen the situation it created itself by setting free Arsen Babayan at personal guarantees.
“I will wait for 2-3 days with the hope that this opportunity will be used,” he wrote, stressing that Babayan should be freed.
