Andranik Kocharyan says military budget balance not violated, Azerbaijan simply buys different types of weapon
The CSTO does not respond to the shooting of the Azerbaijani side in the direction of Armenia as there is no need of it right now, chairman of NA’s defense and security affairs standing committee Andranik Kocharyan told the reporters today.
“The CSTO is ready to respond if the issue relates to the security of Armenia’s borders. Today the Armenian Armed Forces are able to ensure safety on its own,” Kocharyan said, adding that this year the shooting registered on Armenian borders is less than during the previous years.
As to selling of weaponry to Azerbaijan by Russia, Kocharyan described it as a “bad phenomenon.”
“It is a very bad thing, but let us not forget that our Armed Forces are also equipped with such weapon and the issue is to reach peace. The issue of weapon balance is always in focus and the adversary must not have privilege in it,” he said, adding that the raise of Azerbaijan’s military budget has become widely discussed issue currently and urged not to forget that the structures of armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan are different.
“I do not think the balance is violated. Azerbaijan is just purchasing different types of weapon,” he said.
