Any encroachment against football is inadmissible: AFF chairman urges all to unite and have good football

Armenia’s Football Federation convened today session of the executive committee to discuss the issue of appointment of chief coach of Armenia’s national football team, AFF chairman Arthur Vanetsyan told the reporters today.

“Candidacy of Abraham Khashmanyan has been nominated with all the participants of the session having backed the candidacy and from now Mr Khashmanyan is the chief coach of the team,” he said.

The AFF chairman voiced hope that Khashmanyan will bring new victories to the national team.

“As to the other issues, I want to state immediately that no issues have occurred during yesterday and today. In reality there were no issues, with just a big noise having been raised focusing the attention of the people on the issue,” he said, explaining that with the newly adopted charter of the AFF on June 26 the chief coach of the Armenian team is appointed by the AFF chairman.

Vanetsyan said all the members of the committee approved the new charter.

As to the raised issue, the AFF chairman said examination has been launched into why the new charter was not submitted on the very day of its adoption but on October 25 and ten days are necessary for registering the new charter in the State Register.

“Formally it should be approved tomorrow but after being informed about the issue of appointing new coach the staff has not informed me that the new charter is not registered in State Register yet. It was just a technical issue,” Vanetsyan said.

He noted that the raised noise was absolutely inappropriate.

Vanetsyan said the only absent at today’s session was health minister Arsen Torosyan who did not inform about it.

The AFF chairman said he does not see any political motives.

“I see some interest in raising noise over some topics, but you know what, any step made against football in the football world is not made against Arthur Vanetsyan but against Armenian football while each encroachment against Armenian football is inadmissible. Let us all unite and have good football,” Vanetsyan said.
