Free Democrats party leadership, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia discuss key domestic, foreign political issues
President of the Free Democrats party Khachatur Kokobelyan hosted today in the office of the party U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy.
Vice-president of the party Anzhela Khachatryan, administration member Narek Ayvazyan, spokesperson Sona Minasyan, deputy head of U.S. Embassy’s political-economic department Mary Alexander attended the meeting.
During the meeting the interlocutors discussed a number of key domestic and political issues, referred to the peace talks over Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, challenges in the security and economic sectors, necessity of implementation of reforms in the justice sector.
“I value the U.S. Embassy’s longstanding relationship with Armenia’s political parties, including the Free Democrats. The United States remains committed to supporting Armenia’s democratic, economic and social governance, as we have been throughout the 27 years of our diplomatic relationship,” Ambassador Tracy said, expressing gratitude for the meeting.
Attaching significance to the development of Armenian-U.S. relations, Khachatur Kokobelyan stressed that both Armenia and the United States have work to do in essentially raising the volume of U.S. investments in Armenia which will result in diversification and development of Armenia’s economy and infrastructures.
The party’s president valued the contribution of the United States to the reinforcement of democratic institutions in Armenia and asked to convey his gratitude to the U.S. House of Representative for adoption of Resolution recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
