Magnitude 8 quake hits Iran, shakes felt in Armenia's regions and Yerevan
A magnitude 5.9 earthquake, which struck Iran after midnight on Friday, was felt on Armenia's territory.
The epicenter lied 45km south off Iran’s Ardebil city (about 210 south-east of Meghri, Vayots Dzor region, Armenia).
Quakes measuring 3-4 points were felt in several cities and towns of the southern Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions, reports the Emergency Ministry's press service.
Five people are reported to have been killed and some 120 injured as a result of the earthquake, RIA Novosti reports.
The reports are now being verified.
