Armenian side funds Mel film’s small part, telling about champion: Armenia’s PM to protesters
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan does not share the dissatisfaction raised over funding Mel film, about Armenian weightlifting champion Meline Doluzyan.
“Representatives of different countries are shooting film about our champion, they are financing the 90% and tell us to add a small part telling about our champion,” Pashinyan told the young people protesting in front of education ministry.
To the complaints of the young people that the film is about homosexual life and not about the sports, Pashinyan said, “The person you are speaking about is triple champion, in the honor of who the Armenian flag was raised thrice and the Armenian hymn voiced.”
As to about funding films about Armenian kings which are being rejected and the refusal to fund Armenian warrior program, Pashinyan said that he has personally spoken publicly about necessity to shoot the film about Armenian kings.
Referring to the funding of film about Doluzyan, Pashinyan said, “My perception is that the film is about a person, a champion. We are funding the part of the film telling about champion.”
It has been reported earlier that Armenian government allocated 20 million AMD from the state budget for funding Mel film telling about Meline Doluzyan.
