My arrest aimed at forcing CC president Hrayr Tovmasyan step down: Arsen Babayan
Former deputy head of the NA staff Arsen Babayan speaking at a news conference today described the criminal persecution against him unlawful.
“To those who deny that I am being politically persecuted explaining that I am not a political figure, I can say that this claim does not bear any criticism as one should not be a politician to be politically persecuted,” Babayan said.
He added that it was clear from the very beginning that the criminal case is politically motivated and the article under which he was charged was supposed to be amnestied.
“The criminal case could not have been filed while the arrest followed it was a shameful unlawful action,” he said.
Babayan stressed that all the actions were addressed against CC president and the authorities were trying to reach their goal at any cost.
“All the actions were aimed at reaching resignation of CC president Hrayr Tovmasyan. Nothing can stop the authorities for reaching this goal,” Babayan said.
As to the further actions, Babayan said the case will be dropped.
