Serzh Sargsyan negotiated over document clearly fixing Karabakh’s right to self-determination: former deputy DM
Armenia was negotiating over document where the Nagorno Karabakh self-determination principle was clearly fixed, former deputy defense minister Artak Zakaryan said, adding that after the signing of the document Karabakh was to return over the table of negotiations as official side.
“Serzh Sargsyan did not state that he is ready to hand territories. Sargsyan’s statement was not about negotiations over handing the territories but about negotiation over document where the principle of self-determination is clarified and after signing of which Karabakh was to return to the table of negotiations as official side,” Zakaryan said.
He stressed that the former president was working on moving the process forward.
“Today’s deadlock is risky as we are adding Azerbaijan’s political resources. It convinces the world that Armenia is not constructive and is not formulating any position for negotiations. It has declared unclear position saying that solution must be acceptable for the three parties but it does not say which these solutions are,” Zakaryan said.
