Armenia hopes electricity tariff to remain unchanged
Chairman of the Public Service Regulation Commission Garegin Baghramyan speaking to reporters today said he hopes that the price for electricity will not be raised.
“Currently we are discussing the terms of the stoppage of the Armenia’s Nuclear Power Plant in 2020. It is necessary to clarify how many days it will not work,” he said, adding that these calculations are the main factors influencing on the electricity tariffs as the work of the NPP ensures cheaper electricity.
Baghramyan also said that resources will be searched to keep the existing electricity tariff unchanged.
He stressed that from January 2020 Armenia starts repayment of the loan given for upgrading and extension of the term of exploitation of the NPP.
He said the sum will be included in the electricity tariff.
