Bright Armenia faction head urges government radically review proportional territorial development policy until it is too late
The 2020 state draft budget does not contain logic of proportional territorial development and continues the inertia of the former years, head of the Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan wrote on Facebook.
“The issue of non-proportional territorial development remains unsolved with the draft budget as well, the policy of the government remains unchanged in this sector,” Marukyan stressed, adding that as a result Armenia continues being a tadpole whose non-proportionally large head is Yerevan, and the regions are just small parts of it.
“They continue being forgotten, everything is centralized in the capital, no essential positive changes take place in the regional communities with people moving from there to Yerevan or emigrating to get high-quality education, work,” Marukyan wrote.
He stressed that as far as the life quality in regions lows, the capital is gradually becoming overloaded which results in corresponding negative consequences.
“I urge the government to radically review the policy of the sector until it is not too late,” Marukyan said.
