My Step faction head speaks for closer cooperation with Congressional Armenian Caucus

Head of the My Step faction Lilit Makunts speaking to reporters today briefed on the results of her visit to the United States. She said the purpose of the visit was not only to meet with the colleagues from the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, but to establish direct ties with them.

“The meetings were not only held with congressmen but with different experts as well. The Armenian-American friendship group put the main accent on the ways to raise the level of our relations and cooperation on institutional level. We have offered cooperation with the Armenian Caucus and other establishments in the directions of human rights protection, reinforcement of democratic institutions, prevention of corruption. We have also proposed our congressional colleagues adoption of act in support of Armenia” Makunts said, adding that it all supposes certain bilateral commitments.

“We are planning to submit our written proposals to the Congressional Armenian Caucus co-chair Frank Pallone,” the member of the parliament said.
