Nephew of ex-chairman of SRC to remain in custody
The court has upheld the motion of the NSS investigative department to prolong the arrest of the former head of the State Revenue Committee’s inner security department Karen Khachatryan for another two months.
“It was expectable, it was not a secret that a pressure is being exerted on the judicial power,” Khachatryan’s lawyer Amram Makinyan told the reporters.
He said the court denied their motion to change the preventive measure from arrest to release on bail.
Makinyan stressed that the court has partial attitude toward Khachatryans’ case.
“There are no grounds to keep Karen Khachatryan in custody,” the lawyer said, adding that they are going to appeal the decision.
Karen Khachatryan is the nephew of the former chairman of the State Revenue Committee, former minister of finance Gagik Khachatryan.
He is accused of big volume of embezzlement.
