SIS to act in accordance with law: Sasun Khachatryan on declaring search for ex-prosecutor general
Former prosecutor general Gevorg Kostanyan has not been charged yet, chief of the Special Investigation Service Sasun Khachatryan told the reporters at the National Assembly today.
The response came to the question whether search will be declared for Kostanyan.
Khachatryan said that the SIS will act in accordance with the law.
Kostanyan is currently in Moscow and stated that he will arrive back in Armenia after ending the classes.
As to Kostanyan’s statement that there are artificial elements in the case, Khachatryan said, “What artificial elements? I cannot comment on Mr Kostanyan’s statement. You ask me whether it is realistic to arrive in Yerevan from Moscow in 48 hours, now I ask you, is it realistic?”
Gevorg Kostanyan was requested to show up to the supervising body in 48 hours for being charged.
Asked whether the charges are related to the description of the charges of the former chief of the Police Alik Sargsyan, the SIS chief gave positive response.
As to whether the former prosecutor general will be charged for not revealing March 1 case, Khachatryan said, “Let’s wait 48 hours.”
