No edges for reconciliation: Khosrov Harutyunyan on lawsuit against lawmaker Arman Babajanyan
Former lawmaker Khosrov Harutyunyan speaking to Aysor.am said he does not see edges for reconciliation with NA lawmaker Arman Babajanyan.
“I will say frankly, I was rather surprised with the decision of the court. If the parties had any wish to search for edges for reconciliation they would have used this period for doing it, if they did not do it, it means the parties have no such wish,” Harutyunyan said, speaking about the decision of the court to delay the hearing.
“I do not see edges for reconciliation, it is obvious that the statement had accentuated political goal. On the background of the current reality when each tries to throw dirt on the previous authorities and use the opportunity to discredit the former prime minister and former lawmaker it is impossible,” Harutyunyan said.
Asked to comment on Babajanyan’s lawyer’s statement that the lawmaker had no aim to discredit Harutyunyan, the latter said, “I regret that today’s session did not take place. I was going to ask Mr Norikyan to interpret the sentence his defender voiced. If you read it and came to other conclusion, it means I do not understand Armenian language.”
Harutyunyan also noted that before applying to court he tried to contact with Babajanyan for the latter to reject his statement while the lawmaker left his phone calls unanswered.
“He did not answer my phone calls, I contacted with Edmon Marukyan as head of the faction, explained the situation and stated that it would be right if he urged his faction member to reject the statement. But again no response. I have applied to Ararat Mirzoyan as NA chairman as well, I told them I would apply to court if the statement was not rejected. They refused to do it,” Harutyunyan said.
Harutyunyan filed a lawsuit against the lawmaker after the later stated on April 18 that a number of former officials received licenses for governance of the hydro power plants and water resources by the Public Services Regulatory Commission and named Harutyunyan as one of the officials.
In response Khosrov Harutyunyan filed a lawsuit against Babajanyan on May 17 demanding rejection of discrediting statement and compensation amounting 2 million AMD.
