Armenia cannot allow implementation of “great” idea on the account of our physical security: Arthur Vanetsyan on activity of Soros Fund in Armenia

If there was an issue with the Constitution and laws the toughest response would not be late, former director of the National Security Service Arthur Vanetsyan told Hraparak daily, commenting on the statement of the head of the Open Society Institute Larisa Minasyan that with the criteria set by Armenia’s Constitution the activity of Soros Fund in Armenia was and cannot be of any danger to Armenia.

“I convince you that if there were issues with the Constitution and laws, the toughest response would have followed immediately. In any case, it is not being decided by a person, including by Larisa Minasyan, but by corresponding state institutions. As to the comment, I would like to draw your attention on the circumstance that in her statement Mrs Minasyan has already pointed the danger I meant. In their goals she did not attached any significance to the security of Armenia. While unlike Soros Fund, each person concerned with Armenia’s future, with the welfare of the Armenian people, irrespective of the tasks he/she should implement, must first of all take into consideration the threats our country is facing. If we lived on the Moon for instance, without any external threats, I convince you that the agenda of the Open Society Institute would just be hailed, but we live in the South Caucasus, in neighborhood with Turkey and Azerbaijan and cannot allow bringing into life any “great” idea on the account of our security. So, the criteria are the aggressive behavior of our neighbors, the instability in our region, demographic crisis, migration tempos and others. In case of an opportunity try to learn from Mrs Minasyan whether, for instance, it is possible to ensure the physical security of the Armenian people of Armenia and Artsakh if one day our women decide that they must not give sons to the army – I mean what currently some organizations assisted by the Soros Fund headed by Mrs Larisa propagate. I do not want to bring other examples, if necessary, I will refer to them in more details,” Vanetsyan said.
